The Netherlands is a country of boats. From the smallest sloops to the most impressive mega-yachts: Dutch yacht building enjoys an exceptional reputation worldwide. Within this tradition, Altena has built up a rich history, in which the client’s wishes are always paramount. It is precisely this focus that results in yachts that perfectly meet expectations, each one crafted with skill and built entirely by hand.

Gerard Pols founded Altena Yachting in 1969 as a hobby. After completing his technical training, his passion for shipbuilding grew, and building his own boat became a long-cherished dream. At some point, he decided to make that dream a reality.
The result was a 9.5-metre steel cruiser, to which Gerard, together with his wife Jo and their children, devoted all their spare time. Step by step, a personal dream took shape and the foundations were laid for Altena Yachting.

Craftsmanship does not go unnoticed. Even before the first boat was launched, a customer had already come forward. He immediately recognised the quality, the attention to detail and the solid workmanship that had gone into its construction.
The sale of this first boat provided the start-up capital for the founding of Altena Yachting. This laid the foundations for a successful family business that has been building high-quality motor yachts for many years.
Maurice Pols has now been at the helm of Altena Yachting for almost a quarter of a century. Together with his wife Ilse, son Ian and daughter Lola, he is continuing the family tradition. In this way, knowledge, craftsmanship and a passion for yacht building are passed down from generation to generation.
Today, Altena Yachting is renowned for quality, reliability and personalised service. These values have formed the basis of every yacht to leave the shipyard since its foundation.
